Joan Potter teaches a writing workshop for fourth graders at the RSHM Life Center in Sleepy Hollow, NY, a community center for Latino immigrants.
She has taught memoir for ninth graders at the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester, and for adults at the Hudson Valley Writers Center in Sleepy Hollow; the Northern Westchester Center for the Arts in Mount Kisco, NY; the Moriah Shock Incarceration Facility, a New York State prison; the Essex County Historical Society in Elizabethtown, NY; and several libraries in Westchester, Rockland, and Columbia counties.
She is the author or coauthor of several nonfiction books, including Still Here Thinking of You: A Second Chance With Our Mothers. Her personal essays have been published in anthologies and literary journals, and her articles have appeared in numerous magazines and newspapers.
