WELCOME TO THE HVWC CALENDAR: home of all our upcoming readings, events and workshops. You can view by list or calendar (see right menu to choose). Click the colored tabs below to show only specific options. Our workshops run as multi-session series or one-day “intensives.” Note, we list the multi-session courses on the first day they meet only. The full dates of the session are described in the course descriptions. You would need to scroll back to the start date if you needed to enroll for something already underway. But do let us know if you want to join something in midstream since we need the blessing of the instructor. Questions? Email us.

THE FRUITFUL DARKNESS ~ NOURISH YOURSELF AS WE ENTER WINTER’S WOMB (in person at HVWC)

November 19, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

$150.00 – $175.00

Sunday, November 19th
10:00 AM-3:00 PM
In Person at HVWC

Learn how to enjoy the sound of your own voice, feel at home in your body and integrate times of quiet reflection into your life. In this time of transition from autumn into winter, we will discover our natural voices and move together, finding creative ways to turn inward during the darkness of the winter months.

As we learn to deeply listen and respond to ourselves and others, we will unlearn what we’ve been taught that stifles our creativity and enjoyment.

Open to all. No singing or movement experience required.

Francesca Genco, MA is a singer and sound healer, yoga instructor, bodyworker and interdisciplinary arts teacher.  She is the founder of Song of the Body, which offers classes, workshops and retreats in embodied voice, sound healing, yoga and creative expression. Her singing is featured in many films and TV shows, including Neill Blomkamp’s film Elysium and the BBC’s An Honourable Woman. She was also a featured vocalist in Serj Tankian’s (lead singer of System of a Down) orchestral concert, Invocations. Francesca’s classes and private sessions are centered on creating an intimate relationship with the body as we learn to listen and respond to its natural intelligence and resonance. Lea Bender, E-RYT-500 combines three decades of yoga practice with intensive study of philosophy, anatomy and therapeutic techniques to offer students a fully integrated experience. Lea received her 200-hour RYT certification from Jaya Yoga Center and her 300-hour Advanced RYT certification from Abhaya Yoga, both in Brooklyn, NY. Lea believes that yoga offers a path to physical and mental wellbeing for every age, body and ability and can be taught to anyone, anywhere. Outside of yoga studios, Lea has taught in many diverse settings, from Omega Institute to Rikers Island. At the root of every class is the intention to help students tap into the sacred nature of our human experience through connection to body and breath.
