Community Partners
You are all our community. Here we give particular thanks to our neighboring arts organizations, community-minded businesses, and the Village itself, with whom we happily partner on various events and projects.
Village of Sleepy Hollow
Sleepy Hollow is a great place to live and it’s the perfect place to run a Writers Center. Along the Hudson, following the legacy of Washington Irving’s legend, and with the support of our Village administration, we thrive! Thank you to Sleepy Hollow for your full support.
Tarrytown Arts Camp
This summer we are offering Hudson Valley Rising Writers creative writing camp for middle schoolers in partnership with our community multi-arts camp, Tarrytown Arts Camp.
Pros(e) of Pie
Pros(e) of Pie brings pie into something like the Moth, which is a winning combo. We love having this roving event regularly at the HVWC. Next up: August!
Coffee Labs Roasters
Fine fresh roast and beans in Tarrytown and supplier of caffeine to our monthly third Friday Open Mics; also partner with us in our new Coffee Poems project, showcasing one winning poem a month on their bustling front count.
Teatown
Nature-based literature has inspired generations of environmental advocates and conservationists. From Thoreau’s Walden to Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring, nature writing helps connect us with our environment. The “Writing Nature Series” features environmentally-themed book recommendations and live readings by nature writers at Teatown Reservation in Ossining and the HVWC.
The Hudson Independent
The Hudson Independent has been quite an ally to the Writers Center, helping us share our news and providing our students a regular forum to share their creative work. We appreciate Bob, Barry, Rick, Linda, Suzanne and all the great people behind our local monthly of record!
TaSH Farmers Market
TaSH has given Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow a vibrant market worthy of our villages. HVWC enjoys an occasional table in Patriot’s Park to further our community connections.
Jacob Burns Film Center
We honor their members here with discounted event tickets (ask for details). We are also enjoying new event collaboration with Creative Culture.
TEDxTarrytown
We are a proud sponsor of these great talks to change to the world, right here in Tarrytown.
Hudson River Museum
Our new Community Partner just downriver with whom members of either org can enjoy reciprocal discounts for admission/events. Their members get $7 event tickets and ours get $3 off of regular admission to the Museum. Inquire for more details.
